OUR JOURNEY
Cafe 1986 is located on Manali's Mall Road, one of the busiest and most popular areas in the city. The cafe's prime location makes it easily accessible for both locals and tourists.
From the moment you step inside Cafe 1986, you are greeted with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sounds of live music. The cafe's decor is warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and cozy lighting that creates a relaxed atmosphere.
It was started after Covid-19 in 2020 by a man named Tarun Gupta, who had always been passionate about coffee and music. Tarun had planned to open a cafe exclusively for coffee, but Covid-19 gave him more time to think about his vision.
During this time, Tarun went on a solo trip to Ladakh, where he recalled his memories of traveling to some of the world's most famous destinations. He loved music and coffee, and after his trip, he came up with an idea to mix the two together.
With his deep knowledge of the food industry, having been involved in event management in NCR, Tarun shared his vision with his brother and co-owner Arun. They decided to reconstruct the cafe to make it a place for live music, coffee, food, and non-alcoholic drinks.
From the beginning, the mission of Cafe 1986 has been to provide a high-quality, immersive experience for customers. They wanted to create a space where people could connect, create, and enjoy. Live music was a core element of the cafe, and Tarun understood the importance of providing it throughout the day, not just in the evenings. Tourists demanded live music, and Tarun and Arun made it a priority to provide it.
One of the unique features of Cafe 1986 is their dedication to promoting local artists. Tarun and Arun charge a service fee to promote the artists, even during the lowest season of the year. This ensures that the cafe is a hub for local talent and a place where customers can discover new artists and music.
